There are several ancient writing scripts in the Philippines. Some of them have completely disappeared from use, while others remain to be used be indigenous tribes in the country up until today.
Ancient Writing Scripts in the Philippines
The ancient writing scripts of Filipinos are as follows:
- Baybayin - Tagalog form of writing. It is the most popular among all Filipino writing scripts, wrongfully called Alibata.
- Buhid
- Hanunoo
- Tagbanwa
- Kawi - the ancient script used in the Laguna Copperplate
